Episode № 100 BrickUniverse
Welcome back!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.
In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, then continue with a blog update, and wrap up with something domestic.
Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
Since we last talked, I made some pizza pasta and shared it at a squadron Slow Cooker Party. For the record I only assembled said pasta in my Instant Pot and used the ‘keep warm’ setting so I wouldn’t stand out too badly from the line of Crock Pots.
I’ll plug the recipe into the show notes, but I warn you that it’ll be a little ambiguous with measurements because my pasta to sauce ratio changes per topping ingredients…so it’s flexible. The short audio version is that you cook a store bought pasta to al dente - I prefer to use mini bow-tie shaped pasta because it’s a great sauce grabber. Then add marinara, and your favorite pizza toppings. The Jupiter house recipe includes mini pepperonis, black olives, and green bell pepper. Sometimes mushrooms depending on what looks good at the grocery store.

Either way it was a fun way to get everyone together and mostly not cook dinner. Mister Jupiter and I especially liked letting Kid Jupiter run amok with other kids, and I always enjoy chatting with the other spouses plus the front office staff.
We have an unofficial social invitation coming up. It’s really just resource sharing; so that our circle knows about my favorite Sunday afternoon location. I’ll talk about that one later -because you know me- I prefer to literally broadcast past events only.
For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…I’ve updated Outfits of the Day Q1, also updated Attempting the Perfect PCS, Take Five, and I even published a new Daily Jupiter page (where I have again changed the template because I just can’t figure out my preferred configuration).

I need to update my Fish & Chips Ranking because I did order some back in Honolulu…but I forgot to update sooner because they were unremarkable. But that’s okay. If nothing else I have an established pattern of making Fish & Chips my first dinner when I visit. Maybe one day we’ll live on O’ahu and I can try out all available fish & chips on the entire island. Mmm.

And lastly something domestic. Just a quick brag about something that I quite like about Central Arkansas, and something that we’ll miss about being stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base.
Last weekend we bought tickets for BrickUniverse, a LEGO fan expo. It was downtown in the convention center, but we parked north of the river, right by a streetcar parking lot. So we parked for free, rode the streetcar for free (which also included a pause over the the Arkansas River so that the operator could ring the bell, which provoked a reciprocal toot from a barge crossing underneath us), then we disembarked at the first downtown stop, and only needed to cross one street to get to our destination.
BrickUniverse was a blast, and Kid Jupiter was able to continue his train obsession by getting to check out the few displays with moving trains. Well, two trains and two monorails to be specific. While we were there I grabbed a few custom printed Lego figures. One certain Ghostbuster, plus Tom Cruise as Maverick…so I could swap the heads and give Mr. Spengler a flight suit [ if you know, you know! ]. Then I got a Lego Buzz Aldrin and a David Tennant as Doctor Who so I could have an inaccurate Impossible Astronaut story arc at home. (Truly I just wanted that particular sonic screwdriver, because I have the life-size version and wanted two sonics.)
Anyhoo - all that to say that I like parking in the Argenta Arts District, riding the free streetcar downtown, and being able to surround myself with like nerds and vendors all before lunch. I know that our next address will have wonderful things too, but last weekend was a lot of fun.
Especially because the next day we had dinner at one of our favorite breweries. Mister Jupiter and I shared a truffle and egg pizza - it was delicious. And conveniently we were able to see some friends who are in town for work, so we got to pair our pizza and drinks with friends. What’s better than that?! (Not much!)
That’s it for today’s episode.

And while we're here, I want to share my appreciation for my listeners in the United States (Arkansas currently has the lead, Texas is right behind), Japan (the Aichi prefecture continues to dominate and mostly from Toyota), then Germany (lookin’ at you, Frankfurt Am Main), and even Mexico - probably just a bot or VPN who really enjoys Saltillo…a city in Northern Mexico on the 25th parallel north.
I appreciate each one of you - really ❤️
I will talk to you when I can record next —Bye for now!
