Episode № 59: Borchestershire Shots

Welcome back everybody!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.
In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, continue with a blog update, then wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.

Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
Mister Jupiter and I got our booster shots on base. We both got Moderna (it was his third, and my first Moderna after two Pfizer jabs eight months ago). The next day we both had headaches and sore arms, but nothing significant. But for the record that headache could have just been a little dehydration. I didn’t react to my Pfizer shots at all, and I never react to any flu vaccine either. I expected my first Moderna jab to knock me down like it has to many of our friends, but it didn’t. I guess I’m that one friend of yours who didn’t react to any COVID shots. Maybe it’s just my destiny to be an outlier.

If you’re listening to this and haven’t had three entire shots yet - I want you to pause this episode, and use this time to confront whatever barriers are between you and your first, second, or third COVID vaccine. Search whatever variables you need to. Then schedule the appointment that best fits your life, as soon as possible.

Don’t be a statistic. It’s just a seat belt for your immune system. You surely wear a seatbelt in the car, so you’re already protecting your exterior - now go get a vaccine to protect your interior. I’ll wait.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…it’s the same as last episode, I’ve only updated my outfits Q4 because that’s the only thing I can kind of sustain right now. One day I will have time to write again, or update other things.

And now for my most recent domestic diversion -
You’ll need to hold on to your hat…because the dryer is empty AND the laundry is mostly all folded and put away. This is only because Mister Jupiter folded two loads, which gave me the time to fold one load AND empty the sock basket. When I tend to the freshly dried laundry I focus on what needs to hang, then what needs folded. I throw all of the socks and washcloths into a basket to deal with later, and realistically I don’t actually focus on that basket often. But I did the other night! I matched and put away as many socks as possible (only five rogue single socks remain), and I folded and put away the washcloths. I forgot to decant more detergent into my preferred dispenser, but that’s not a big deal. It’ll get done when I do it.

My next laundry room task is that I need to tidy Kid Jupiter’s next box of clothing donations, so I can be ready to fill a new box. This is in anticipation of a growth spurt that’s beginning - his pattern is easy to see and follow. First it starts with the realization that his clothes have all been fitting pretty well, second he hardly eats for a day or two, third he becomes a ravenous pizza monster, then fourth he suspiciously starts napping regularly again. This sequence of events means that I need to have his next size of clothes washed and ready. He’s already more than half of my height, and as of today - he’s also fully rested and full of pizza.

And a follow up from last episode -
Remember how I said that we were looking forward to our staycation? Well we did stay home and love it as intended. Well, so far at least. I finally committed to order a huge family pack from our favorite Indian restaurant in town. Then Mister Jupiter had the brilliant idea to invite a few people that were also “staycationing” in town because the Indian food I ordered easily feeds ten adults. We ate on it for two nights, everyone getting two servings, and we still had a little leftover - It was a holiday miracle the way that we had so much curry for so long despite sharing and not being shy about our portions.

Anyway - It was fun and delicious, so I already want to do it again next year. Kid Jupiter is on the record for loving their mango custard and naan, but maybe next year he won’t skip the flavorful curries. If we are exceedingly lucky, that restaurant will be able to open their lunch buffet again so I can expose him to a few more flavors - it’s the only buffet that I actually like in all of Arkansas. My next favorite buffet was in Las Vegas; the Carnival World Buffet in Rio because I like the variety. That buffet is also closed until further notice.

And that’s it for today’s brief episode.
