Episode № 58: Feed a Cold

Welcome back everybody!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.
In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, continue with a blog update, then wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.

Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
Mister Jupiter had the privilege to graduate another batch of students, and as usual, I really wish that I was there. Not just because I enjoy fancy a formal event in a  travel destination, but also I really do miss getting to celebrate these graduates in person, meet their families, and so on.
Otherwise Mister Jupiter is back at work again, catching up on office stuff and all varieties of paper pushing. He does have some leave coming up soon, but we will not be traveling anywhere. He travels enough for the both of us, so unless we are crossing an ocean, staying home is actually more relaxing for us because we can pet our dogs every day, our child has access to his favorite toys, and I have the freedom to cook as I choose, and order pizzas as we please.

A few years ago we identified that the ideal time away from home for both of us is about four nights. Even if we did not have the best dogs in the world, and a very manageable child, we just don’t like being away from home that long. Especially me, I think that cooking and putting food on the table for my family is almost a meditative process, not that I zone out and burn stuff or anything like that, but it always makes me feel relaxed, happy, and useful. If we go on a cruise ship for a week, of course we have a great time, but I really miss cooking for myself and my guys.
All of that to say that I am looking forward to our staycation, and probably will be dropping in on a few local friends here and there, but nothing too big, nothing too stressful.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…
I have just updated outfits of the day Q4 as expected, and daydreamed for ten minutes about some other posts that I want to write, but those were only daydreams, because I know that I realistically do not have the time to even start an initial draft, or even basic framework. It’s fine, I have all of my life to write, and I’m okay with that.
📌 Outfits of the Day :: Q4 2021 📍

And now for my most recent domestic diversion...current laundry deficiencies are the usual product of having a very small amount of time to do many different things, and laundry continues to get bumped off of the immediate priority list because it’s not as important as clean dishes, and any food related task.

But also a recent priority has been my need to rest. Kid Jupiter gave me his cold, and I am slowly getting better. The upside of this particular virus is that it isn’t very severe, I feel mostly normal, just slower and with more mucus, and more sinus pressure than usual. But the apparent downside is that it’s lingering longer than I prefer. But really who prefers to have a cold at all? The biggest change has been my desire to have lunch, and requiring regular ibuprofen to reduce the nasal inflammation I can feel behind my eyeballs.

Typically I don’t even think about having anything other than black coffee and water until two or three in the afternoon. But when I have a cold I actually want to have lunch, and since it is something that I actually truly want from deep down in my skeleton bones, lunch (when I have a cold) does not make me incredibly lethargic.

Bodies are super interesting. And mine definitely agrees with the old adage to feed a cold, and starve a fever. In fairness though I haven’t had a fever in any recent memory, so I can’t recall any appetite changes from having hot blood, so maybe I only agree with half of that saying. I don’t know, it really doesn’t matter, and if you look it up online every source out there urges any sick person to just eat. For myself I choose to do what feels right. So my usual fasting habits are changing as I slowly fight off this cold. It’s not a big deal, and if it’s any matter today by I’m feeling about 90% normal. I don’t think that I need to go to bed at 9 PM, but I am speaking to you without any ibuprofen or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. My face feels mostly normal, albeit with a little bit of congestion and I clearly don’t mind if you hear it. We’re all friends here anyway, and podcasts are so great because I can be in your ear yet also I am keeping my cold confined to myself, and my family. Sorry guys, but we do share everything, whether it is good, and whether it is mucous.

And a follow up from last episode -
Remember I was talking about the 21 in 2021 blog post? Well since we last spoke I did stay up late to sort out some cosmetics that say will not be using. Most of the things were unopened samples, so I bundled those up and donated them. Then, like a normal person, I just plain threw away opened make up samples, and related cosmetics that I didn’t deem as fit to donate. I cleaned up two containers, and have two more containers to go. The remainder should actually be easier because the next set of cosmetics or body products are larger bottles, so it’s only two containers because of their larger non-sample size, so sorting those out will actually go faster.

And that’s it for today’s brief episode.
