As the title suggests, this episode is just some delayed comments about Afghanistan. Writer's block is real otherwise you would have heard from me sooner! I'll be back with a full episode next time (well, barring significant events that leave me speechless).

Episode № 54: Delayed Comments on Afghanistan

Welcome back everybody!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.

In this episode I’m only sharing an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military.

In our military affected lives we have been watching Afghanistan with the rest of the world. I have been unsure of what to say since the Afghan president fled the country, and the Taliban have been in power. I have recorded, edited, and deleted this episode three times because I just couldn’t  find the right words after the Taliban seized Kabul, then I couldn’t find the words again after the airport attack that claimed more lives.

As you and I both know this is entirely my own medium (meaning that I do this podcast entirely out of pocket for you my listeners). I can say whatever I want, so that’s nice. But the freedom of speech does not exempt me from writers block.

I at least wanted to let you know that we are fine. Our military lives are of course affected by Afghanistan, how could it not? It’s been a part of our lives for 20 years, and to watch 20 years of hard work go down the drain so quickly is upsetting. But we are still here. My best friend likened the American efforts in Afghanistan as a person undergoing cancer treatment, living for 20 years, then succumbing to the disease. Those 20 years gave hope to a generation of Afghans. Thousands of Americans died on Afghan soil, and their deaths were not in vain.

The American influence and support created opportunities where they were none, it gave peace where there was none, but ultimately it did not last. So now we will continue doing what we do. Mister Jupiter still goes to work and does his job, I continue to manage the house with an iron fist. Kid Jupiter gets taller by the minute and both of the dogs shed profusely to show that they care.

We’ll get back to our regular programming next time that I can record. In the meanwhile you can find this transcript and others in my show notes blog at ladyjupiterpodcast.wordpress.com

I will talk to you later - bye for now!
