Today I share a subtle role change as I continue volunteering with my husband's squadron, but I talk a lot more about bikes because *cue trumpets* my folding ebike has arrived and I can't wait to ride and write about it.

E53: Key Spouse Mentorship & More Bike Talk

Welcome back everybody!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.
In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, continue with a blog update, then wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.

Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
Since we last spoke I did change volunteer positions at Mister Jupiter’s squadron, and I am now a Key Spouse Mentor! All this means is that I support the Key Spouses, and the Key Spouses continue to support the squadron spouses. So I am just the Key Spouses’ personal cheerleader. We are the same level, meaning that we are peers, I am definitely not superior in anyway. We simply have different responsibilities.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…
I haven’t really had as much editing time as I would like, but that is not unusual. I have continued to prioritize sleeping, cooking, and trying to maintain a relatively clean home. However, having said that, I did actually get some good headway on drafting a new blog post about the cheap bike that I tried out earlier this year. It’s a class one electric bike, so it does have some juice but it is in adequate for our needs, and I look forward to selling it soon. I only bring this up because I think it’s good to write about these bikes in order of purchase - so I want to finish writing about this silly bike that I got in April before getting to know my shiny new RadMini ST2.

So that means that the newest addition to my personal fleet of has arrived and has been assembled. I am super excited to ride it so I can primarily enjoy it and secondarily I’m excited to write about it also. But I can’t play with it yet, because most of my afternoons are occupied with Kid Jupiter’s things, and when we do actually have time to ride, it is miserably hot and humid.

We actually went on a nice long ride with some friends the other weekend. The heat index was nearly 110° Fahrenheit by the time we finished. We rode 15 miles in about 90 minutes, Mister Jupiter and I were both on our electric bikes, and I towed Kid Jupiter like usual. Our friends however are real cyclists, and they kept a nice slow even pace with us on their fancy road bikes. Our speed limitation is simply because of Kid Jupiter’s trailer. Schwinn doesn’t recommend speeds over 10 mph, so we play it safe and try to stick to their safety recommendations. Besides, Kid Jupiter likes seeing new things, so the slower speeds give him time to actually look and process some of that visual information.

We are still waiting on the custom-made side car for Kid Jupiter. We should have it next month, so the wait continues, and while I am very excited about it, I am not stressing about it. Primarily because Kid Jupiter still fits in his current trailer. I just know that he’s going to love the side car once he gets used to the larger size, but also more visibility, and we can go a little bit faster in that one. The manufacturer recommends staying under 15 mph, but we will probably stick to the 10 that we are used to because this whole setup is for leisure and enjoying the outdoors. If we need to go somewhere fast, we’ll use the car.

And now for my most recent domestic diversion
BIKES. I recently folded all of the laundry so that I could bring my new electric bike indoors to assemble - because the garage is just too hot. So this weeks domestic diversion is the rare inverse, because instead of being distracted by bike assembly, I was motivated to deal with the laundry so I could focus on the bike.

Is this what neurotypical people do? I totally get it, but it does not come naturally.

And that’s it for today’s brief episode recorded in the car.
