Merry December! This episode shares some long awaited promotion news, and our next plans regarding said promotion. The following blog update is sparse, unlike my talk about delicious holiday treats - both outbound and received.
I also announce a new upload schedule so we can all have a little something to look forward to each week, regardless of the calendar date.

E38: Hey Lieutenant Colonel & Holiday Treats

Welcome back everybody!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, casual fashion, and travel…when possible. I’m happy that you’re here with me.
Today I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, continue with a blog update, then wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.

Today in our military affected lives I have an update that we’ve been waiting on!
Hours after releasing last week’s Episode №37 Mister Jupiter discovered that he is now a lieutenant colonel! Whatever usual official channels appear to have been skipped, so he got that news via social media and confirmed with the Air Force Personnel Center. But in just a few business days the rest of the paperwork caught up and it is now clear to all that he has promoted - yay!
📌 Lady Jupiter Podcast Episode №37

The next thing on our to-do list is to have a COVID-19-friendly ceremony…so it’s primarily a virtual event with a very small VIP list. The few that are allowed to attend in person will be greeted with local tacos and cold blended margaritas. Obviously it sucks that we can’t invite all of our local friends, but they know that we are just trying to keep as many people as safe as possible - especially since a new strain of COVID-19 has been spotted in Europe and is even more contagious than the original.
Oh - one last bit of military-flavored news. We were very happy to attend a dear friend’s recent Change of Command ceremony. It was small and distanced, we got to see one friend replace another in a local squadron - and we cannot be happier for both of them and their families.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…
I haven’t been writing as much. I’m trying to do that thing again where I sleep at night.
Naturally this means that daytime writing competes with my other daytime tasks, so I can’t do much. I did finish up last season’s OOTD post, but I haven’t started on this season’s yet. But I hope you all had a wonderful solstice and have an excellent winter coming up!
📌Outfits of the Day Autumn 2020

If it’s any matter I’ve cooked up about 30 new blog posts this month, so I have plenty to write - I just lack the time. Some have a few paragraphs drafted, but most are just clear titles that I can start drafting when I have the time. Oh! Maybe this year Santa will get me a Time Turner so I can be in two places at once for hours at a time.

And now for my most recent domestic diversion
The Jupiter House is holiday-minded like the rest of North America. Personally this December holiday isn’t really a big deal to me, but I know it is for others, so I just try to get thoughtful gifts in the mail for our family. Without going into detail, I think that I’m going to give people more food gifts from here on out. It’s just as fun and expensive as non-food, except that it cannot become clutter. I think that giving food is a great minimalist gift in that respect, and as a wardrobe maximalist - you can imagine that I have found some gift-worthy nibbles because I love options and I love searching for the best of things.
This year we have received some delicious edible gifts, including real New York cheesecake from Junior’s in Brooklyn, a still-warm-from-the-oven bundt cake, and my first Puerto Rican coquito (it’s a holiday drink featuring coconut milk, cinnamon, and rum…it’s amazing). December 25th is the anniversary of my and Mister Jupiter’s elopement so we celebrate that too. This year my tastebuds wanted to celebrate with salt (to counter the sweets I’m sure) so I got us a wedge of brie to have with caviar for lunch. I haven’t picked a wine yet, but it’s probably in a box because I am okay with that.
Gift-wise Mister Jupiter and I have a knack for buying what we want all year long, besides, time together is more important than any gift. Despite this, I did manage to set aside three little gifts. One thing for Mister Jupiter, one thing for Kid Jupiter, and one thing for the house. Truly though I wish I could give Kid Jupiter the gift of clear sinuses. Poor guy has a cold and is a little miserable. He’s mostly just congested now, but he’s not used to stopped up noses and minimal appetite. He is getting better little by little each day, and I like to think that the homemade pho broth and fresh squeezed oranges are helping him - they don’t seem to make matters worse, so that’s a step in the right direction. Either way, he’s a kid and his immune system is learning this life too. When he’s bigger we can talk about things more and explore cold remedies across world cuisines, I just hope that I can find a fresh horseradish root when that day comes because that will definitely help…but he’s too young for that, it’s “too spicy."

And that’s it for today’s show!

My holiday gift to you listeners is a fixed weekly schedule - so instead of uploading new episodes on whatever-day-the-first-of-the-month is, I’ve decided to release new episodes on Mondays so you can have a new episode at the beginning of each new week. If Mondays don’t work out I will let you know, but I’ll try it for six months first.
So with that in mind I’m going to take next week off from recording. Besides, between now and Monday there won’t be enough changes in life or blog to even justify an episode. The Jupiter House will be spending time chatting with our families, so should you! Whether you observe Hanukkah, Yule, religious Christmas, or secular christmas - we hope you stay warm and feel loved - because you are.

I’ll be back in the new year, so we’ll talk again soon - bye for now!
