E31: Static Life & Nanny Hiring

Today I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, continue with a blog update, then wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.
Today in our military affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
The next Commander in Chief has been elected, and the most recent Secretary of Defense has been fired. But these changes are unlikely to affect the Jupiter House personally. We are still waiting on the Senate to approve the next round of promotions, and we’re loosely planning a very small very quick ceremony for Mister Jupiter.
For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…
bupkis. I have not had the time to do anything for the site this week. I have plans, I have a million drafts, but I don’t have the time. Just for the record, the word I said was bupkis. B-U-P-K-I-S it’s of Yiddish origin and means “nothing at all” it’s one of those words that I never hear anyone use, so I feel the need to define it when I do use it. So there you go.

And now for my most recent domestic diversion
I just hired a part-time nanny! We had a great phone interview last week, and more recently an in-person trial run. She got to see exactly how easy Kid Jupiter is, and how unpredictable he is. I think she’s a perfect match for us, because she loves toddlers, she’s engaging, I obviously like her as a person, and she brings home some much needed diversity. The Kid is primarily used to just being around Mister Jupiter and I, so having a new friend who looks and sounds different from us is a big plus. Also she might leave Central Arkansas before we do, so if I start feeling guilty about spending money on a nanny - then I only need to remind myself that it’s not forever…which may help me use the time wisely.
So lately, instead of folding the laundry, I’ve just been doing my usual cooking and bare-minumum cleaning. Kid Jupiter is being medium picky and doesn’t want to see the same food two days in a row, so every other night I make him two new things. One recent hit was carrot and ginger rice (where I use a can of carrot and ginger soup to make rice), and a combination of mashed yukon and sweet potatoes. I’m doing a lot of orange food apparently, and that works for us. I’m a big fan of feeding him diverse foods anyway, but I prefer to be in control. Oh well, I’m sure he’ll get back to eating whatever I give him soon enough. In the meanwhile he seems to be getting taller by the minute, so that’s fun.
