Welcome back! Today I wanted to share my very first nanny interview, then tease some future content about my recent trip to Fredericksburg, Texas. Otherwise, I gloss over one of my most popular posts this year and give you a brief summary about What I Wish I Knew About the First Trimester. I kept that short for those who aren't interested, and linked below for those who are.

E30: Nanny Trials & Fredericksburg, Texas

Welcome back everybody! Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, home stuff, my low maintenance beauty and fashion, and travel when possible. I’m happy that you’re here with me.
Today I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, continue with a blog update, then wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.
I am also going to be experimenting a little bit with my sound design here in the Lady Jupiter Podcast because I like change, and want some change. So don’t be alarmed as things sound different from previous episodes.

Today in our military affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
We still don’t know when Mister Jupiter promotes, so that part of our lives hasn’t changed.
But we did just gain a new neighbor who will be working with Mister Jupiter. Our neighborhood (as I’ve mentioned before) has a lot of military, so it’s not unusual to gain neighbors who are already in our community, I just wanted to point it out because I think it’s nice. We’re gaining more friends within biking and walking distance, and that’s always fun for me.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…
I have only marginally updated this season’s Outfits of the Day post, and I am still working on a Public Note.
But since it’s early in the month, it’s time to talk about a popular blog post. The most popular blog post that I haven’t talked about yet is titled What I Wish I Knew About The First Trimester.
This post talks about three things I wish I knew, and a few that I accidentally got right. I wish that I knew about the potential for overnight curves - because I gained width within weeks and still can’t fit into my rings. I also write about something that I call Invisible Nausea, that’s when you’re not feeling ill yet, but you know that lying down is the best. Then I wrote about the bonkers food aversions I experienced - first I was ravenous and needed all of the food, then I suddenly couldn’t stand anything that wasn’t a salad. I was amazed that so few foods appealed to me! The post continues with my excellent and accidental purchase of transdermal magnesium, and realizing that my salad habit was probably more nutritious than the prenatal vitamins that I was taking.
Clearly I’m not going to read that post to you - because that’s not what you’re here for. But if you need it, It’s easy to find in the family tab on LadyJupiter.com. And of course direct links are available in the show notes and episode description if you need to give it a quick read right now.

And now for my most recent domestic diversion
I’m happy to share that we’re looking to hire a part time nanny, so I can actually get some things done when Kid Jupiter is awake. Those of you haven’t met my child don’t know that he’s an accident prone adrenaline junkie, and those who have met him know that he’s really easy - he just can’t be left alone. So it came down to us either needing a nanny to hang out with the boy while I do house things, or a housekeeper to do house things while I hang out with the boy. I don’t need much, but I do need a little help each week so I can stay on top of everything without letting the house suffer - or letting the laundry sit in the dryer for days.
So far I have interviewed one potential nanny, but it may not work out because she needs to bring her child. We tested the waters for an hour, and the kids liked each other just fine (so did the adults! So the kids - neither have siblings and can benefit from seeing other children in real life), but my concern is that one child will hurt themselves while she has eyes on the other. During our trial hour - her daughter slipped in the hallway, started crying, which got Kid Jupiter crying, then later my kid nearly knocked out the other by slamming open a door in her face. We didn’t even touch the bathroom - which is Kid Jupiter’s favorite place to slam all of the cabinet doors. So it wasn’t a full disaster, but it wasn’t a complete success either. We might be better matched when her child is older - but until then she might be great to bring in once a month for a few hours so the kids can interact and hopefully learn from each other. At this rate, her kid can teach my kid to babble. While Kid Jupiter can teach her how to find furniture corners with eye sockets. He really can’t be left alone.

Besides that, I (as usual) didn’t fold any laundry lately because I was out of town for a few days. Nearly ten hours driving down to my destination, I stayed there for three sleeps, then nine hours to get back home. Thanks to my mighty Prius I spent about $30 on gas for the trip, which was good because I spent much more on wine in Fredericksburg. Getting out of town for a minute was wonderful, especially since I got to see people that I love, and who also enjoy eating and drinking as much as I do. We definitely feasted and had a great time. In my absence Mister Jupiter did his own laundry - but that’s expected because he was already a fully functioning adult when I met him, so he doesn’t actually need me to do his laundry - thank goodness.
(For you curious listeners we vacationed in Fredericksburg, Texas. Our best lunches were at Vaudeville Bistro, and Grape Creek Vineyards. Our best dinners were at Pasta Bella, and Navajo Grill. We visited three vineyards; Grape Creek, Becker Vineyards, and Hilmy Cellars. We had a blast, and I’ll write up a post about it when I can…so I can safely say that a Fredericksburg post or two are definitely pending.)
