Episode six talks vaguely about my challenges making documents with limited information and a peek into what I consider fun research. Minimal military life changes, and just a few new additions to ladyjupiter.com.

Episode Six: What’s Missing?

Welcome back. Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s  military life, also travel, home stuff, and very casual fashion. I’m happy that you’re here with me.

Today I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the military, follow on with a little blog talk, then we’ll wrap up with my most recent domestic diversion.

This week in our military affected life there have been no significant changes.

Mr. Jupiter has had a few very late nights, but nothing bad or unusual. Just sometimes you have to go to work at three thirty in the morning for an hour, then come back home for a nap while the sun comes up.

This end of the year is always pretty busy, the big difference is that usually he is traveling for work, so the long workdays normally don’t affect me, Kid Jupiter, or the dogs. But this time it does just a little bit, it’s not bad, it’s just different.

Now, for a bit of blog talk.

Since last week I didn’t feel much like writing, so I made some new images to share on Pinterest regarding four blog posts. Those new images are found on picks of the week number five, picks of the week number 51, air plant placement and care, and closet collection: Portofino shirts. Links and images in the show notes [ ladyjupiter.com/podcast ].

Like I said I haven’t been in the mood to write lately, so I haven’t. I do try to do something with LadyJupiter.com each week, but I am pretty loose about it. If it was a reliable source of income, I might be more serious about it, but for now it is just another passion project. That passion project is for your eyes, just like this one is for your ears.

And now for my most recent domestic diversion.

Today’s pile of laundry is brought to you by document design. Specifically I am trying to build a bundle of legacy documents for future volunteers to use when Mr. Jupiter and I leave his current squadron.

There are several very small obstacles between the current documents, and the continuity binder that I will be proud to leave behind. My biggest hurdle is information. I need more than I have, but nobody knows what I need until I show them documents that are completed to the best of my ability, but are clearly lacking. Of course it would be easier for me to make what we need if I had access to all of the information, but as a meer volunteer, my hands are tied. And that’s just trying to get information out to people that I may not meet anytime soon.

So earlier I was reformatting a visual calendar, and looking over some checklists that I made earlier this year. I absolutely love creating and designing documents, but I feel like I can definitely improve somehow, I just don’t know where to start because I don’t know what I’m missing exactly (this has suddenly become a recurring theme). Searching Pinterest for project management tips is getting me in the direction I want, the problem is that most project management is based on using certain programs. I’m all for program use, but I’m really looking for analog options ... elegant spreadsheets - something. So until I find the right adjectives, I will continue to flail around the internet searching for information organization methods - and saving documents that speak to me.

And that’s the show! Thanks for joining me this week - I’ll be back on the first with a new batch of updates and thoughts.
