Episode № 93 Dual Batmobiles

In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, then continue with a blog update, and wrap up with something domestic.
Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
Much like previous episodes, we do not know where we are moving next, we do know when we approximately need to move, and we have been vocal about where we want to go next.
But no paperwork yet, so nothing official to speak of.
Meanwhile Kid Jupiter and I visited our local arts and crafts shop on Little Rock Air Force Base. I guess the last I heard about Little Rock not having a frame shop must have been outdated information, because it was plainly there - so if you are not a time traveler, and listening to this in relatively real time, I repeat that there is a frame and mat shop in the Little Rock Air Force Base arts and crafts building.

Anyway we were there to drop off and pick up an engraving job, and upon pick up we looked at the kids art room. It’s just a room full of several small tables with little chairs and lots of paper, and a ton of art supplies. It’s definitely a great space and at the time of recording I think the fee to use it was only $6.50 per hour per family. Kid Jupiter and I couldn’t stick around and play that day, but now we know what to expect - and I am big on expectation management.

And lastly something domestic.
Both of our vehicles are now Batmobiles! So last real episode I told you about how the matte black Tesla is definitely a Batmobile. Well, since we last spoke my bat phone rang again, and I taxied another bat.
However the day of that drive was significantly cooler than the last. And the Tesla wanted me to detour to the Supercharger up in Jonesboro on the way to Mountain View, then go back to Jonesboro again just so I could get back home. Those charging stops are a real pain when my little co-pilot just wants to get back home to his Bologna sandwiches. I like when he’s forced to experience boredom -but there are limits- and a surprise four-hour drive is plenty on a random Tuesday. Adding charging stops is very unappealing.
So I made an executive decision for the sake of efficacy and driving simplicity. I switched cars. I didn’t intend for the Prius to also be a Batmobile, but its range is not temperature dependent, at least not to the same range reductions as a Tesla. So Kid Jupiter and I moved a bat box from the short range vehicle to the long range vehicle, then I promptly drove two hours northward into the Ozarks, dropped off a little bat friend, then two hours back home. No need to charge, and no need for gas because I get 55 miles per gallon in my Prius.
So there we go. Both cars are batmobiles, one looks the part, and the other doesn’t. That’s okay. I respect a diverse offering of Batmobiles - from matte black, to glossy, sparkling tri-coat white.
