Episode № 91 Bat Taxi

In this update I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, then continue with a blog update, and wrap up with something domestic.
Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.
I’ve been buying little things for our future home…without knowing anything about it..
I’m just assuming that we’ll be moving into a small house like we had in Alabama - except that we won’t own it so I won’t be able to make changes. I bought a small clothing rack that should fit all of my leather jackets; because it is likely that we won’t have a huge closet.
And I think that I’m going to buy into some vertical spice storage solution. I love cooking, so I have a lot of spices, but my preferred shallow shelf display hasn’t been up to my standards for two addresses now - so I just need to reformat my spice storage in the event that we’ll have weirdly deep cabinets (just like we had in Alabama and Kansas), but without installing slide outs.
Anyhoo, so far so fun. I’m also trying to increase my outbound donation frequency too. Today I dropped off some housewares and lesser-loved clothes to a Goodwill, and more recently found a nice pair of Calvin Klein jeans that I won’t wear because they’re too low rise for me now that I fit into them again. I’m just going to keep my standards like my pants rise - HIGH.
For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…the site is still up and running.
And lastly something domestic.
Our “batmobile” really is a bat mobile now!
We got the most batmobile comments about our matte black Tesla immediately after getting the wrap. Then the Texas-based non-profit bat rehabilitation and sanctuary Bat World Sanctuary called out to social media for volunteer drivers across the United States. They wanted to make a location-specific list of potential drivers to transport bats to rehabilitators.
So of course I signed up to cover central Arkansas. My first requests to transport a bat came on days that were bad; I had appointments, or visitors. I really couldn’t help. But then my bat phone rang on a sunny bat morning where I was actually free all day. So Bat Jupiter hopped in the Tesla with me to pick up a bat in Bryant, and drive him up to Mountain View. After a surprise seven bat hours in the car that day - our first volunteer bat taxi job was complete.
Not surprisingly, Kid Jupiter didn’t want to get in the car at all the next day. I even explained that the black car is a true Batmobile now, but he wasn’t interested. He’s three. And the proud owner of a plush chicken that we bought in a new anime store.
Anyway - I’ll put a link in the show notes to Bat World Sanctuary’s public call for volunteer drivers. Central Arkansas will be losing this volunteer next summer and I hope that more people sign up. For what it’s worth, there is a public Tesla charger in downtown Mountain View. The nearest restaurant to the charger is a classic greasy spoon diner. The pies were tall, the coffee had been on a hot burner for several hours, and breakfast is served all day. It’s a cash-only joint, but they have an ATM by the door. I look forward to visiting again.

Oh, and a quick follow-up from last episode - I happened to receive those Nespresso pods that I ordered in July! Maybe I should just speak more about things that I’m waiting on, because if I have a latent coffee-summoning superpower, we need to know about it.
So - universe, if you’re listening, I’m still looking for that one cuff from the jewelry designer who closed her shop - YOU KNOW the one I’m alluding to because I have all of those Google Alerts for it. I just wanted to let you know that I’m happy to pay full price for one, and that I deeply regret buying luggage for Tokyo instead. If I can summon coffee, let’s see if I can summon jewelry too - because you know how Mister Jupiter enjoys my expensive hobbies.
