Episode № 87 True Colors Assessment

Welcome back everybody!

Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.

In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, then continue with a blog update, and wrap up with something domestic.

Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.

I’m still anxious about my rented dress fitting or not, especially since I found the rental receipt the other night. It’s due to arrive two days before the ball. And yes, I do have a back up dress in my closet. It’s a little big, so it’s not ideal, but it fits. Both options will look good with Mister Jupiter’s mess dress, but I obviously have more preference than patience.

Otherwise I recently went to my quarterly Key Spouse Continued Education training. We talked about an upcoming program change, then did the True Colors Assessment. It’s a simplified Myers-Briggs personality test. I don’t remember my Myers-Briggs result, but I can tell you that my true color is green, then orange. I am analytical, I value knowledge, but I’m also optimistic, and I learn by doing. If that doesn’t sum me up I don’t know what does. My third and fourth place colors are gold and blue (respectively). Regarding gold - I’m not too into traditions, and respecting authority doesn’t come naturally. Regarding blue - I am not a natural romantic, and I’m a terrible listener.

Not surprisingly, most of the Key Spouses in my session were basically the opposite colors. But I wasn’t a total outlier. There was another command spouse that evening, and I think that her number one color was actually a three-way tie between gold, green, and blue. I’ll admit that I wasn’t paying too much attention to the others’ results because I was the only one who brought a toddler to the training, and he kept needing my attention. I wanted to see the other results, but I really can’t divide my attention very well. It’s a miracle that I can walk and talk at the same time.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update — the site is still up and running.

And lastly something domestic.

So, one of the things about me obviously being a green personality is my absolute love of learning, and my genuine interest to learn a little bit about everything.

I bring this up to share with you that I recently got a new-to-me podcast player, and I’ve been loading it up with my favorite shows. One of them happens to be The Drive hosted by Dr. Peter Attia. You probably know that I am not a medical professional, but his show also reminds me that my knowledge of organic chemistry, biology and Formula One Racing are pitifully low.

So typically I consider myself to be relatively well put together, with moderate intelligence and conversational skills. Well, listening to his show removes most of those assumptions, and makes me realize that I’m really more like a vulgar potato. His show generally knocks my ego down a notch, but since I’m always learning, I’m starting to understand more of the content - so that’s kind of fun. It makes me want to go to medical school when I’m older and more mature, but that’s unlikely because I don’t agree with western medicine’s allopathic and reactive model.

Oh, and also my 40th birthday is closer than I would like to admit, and I quite enjoy having zero student loans. Realistically I’ll probably just go to grad school and build on my existing degree…but who knows. Maybe I’ll walk away from academic pursuits entirely and double down on sending Kid Jupiter to school with aggressively elaborate packed lunches.

Not to brag or anything, but I checked out a cookbook the other day because I apparently have everything I need to make steamed buns. So there’s a 29 percent chance that I’ll try to make Chinese steamed buns (stuffed with peanut butter and jelly) this weekend after the ball.

And that’s it for today’s episode.

If you have a moment I would love if you could leave Lady Jupiter Podcast some stars on Apple Podcasts

They say that ratings help new listeners, and I’m sure there’s some truth in there, but all I know is that I can’t rate my own show - so I’ll need your help. If your podcast listening app doesn’t allow ratings, don’t worry about it! It’s not a universal function. So if it’s convenient, I would love a rating. And if it’s not convenient, that’s okay too (thanks for checking)!

I will talk to you when I can record next. Bye for now!
