Episode № 85 Adult ADHD, Series Start

Welcome back everybody!
Lady Jupiter Podcast is the audio accompaniment to LadyJupiter.com a lifestyle blog where I write about my family’s military life, our home life, and other tiny details that I just like to share. I’m happy that you’re here with me.

In this episode I’ll share an update on our life as affected by the U.S. military, then continue with a blog update, and wrap up with something domestic.

Today in our military-affected lives I have nothing significant to update.

Mister Jupiter will be adding more education to his resume soonish, so I am reminded again that I still want to frame our degrees. Originally, I wanted to buy a set of matching frames, but he keeps adding to the collection so I just need to commit to having non-matching frames and just accept that the variety of degrees and diplomas will just keep growing.

For today’s LadyJupiter.com update…I officially started writing my ADHD Series.
📌 ADHD Series

It’s going to be a series of blog posts that detail the systems that I used to succeed before I was diagnosed and medicated. This first blog post in the series is just a preface; a little about me and my presentation of ADHD.

I don’t know how many posts this Series will contain in the end, but I have almost 20 topics that I want to write about, and surely more will present themselves. New posts in this series will be published sporadically.

As usual, my writing time will continue to be hit-or-miss each day, because I need absolute silence to think clearly and to write. And thanks to my environment I might get 20 good minutes each day. As you know I often use those slim slices of usable brain time to do the things that keep my family alive - like menu planning, meal prepping, and simply looking ahead on the calendar to see what’s coming up and making small checklists so that I am ready for my own calendar events.

So. Please accept my advance apologies for my ADHD Series having a slow start and irregular updates. Despite medication, I am still a stay-at-home-writer and my “coworkers” refuse to give me regular access to the silence and solitude that I need to write. I’ll get to it when I can! Meanwhile, I will link to the ADHD Series tag in the show notes - clicking on that link will take you to the series on LadyJupiter.com with the newest series post at the top of the page, and the preface at the bottom. This will be easy to bookmark or see the entire ADHD Series if you’re a time traveler who clicks from the future.

And lastly something domestic.

Last weekend I went to a hot sauce class and walked away with two jars of fresh hot sauce, a quart of fresh organic jalapeños, and inspiration to go around.

So this morning I picked up some peaches because I need to make a lacto-fermented peach hot sauce. Sometime this week I’ll dice the peaches, slice the jalapeños, pack them in a jar with a quick brine, and let them ferment in the pantry for a week or two.

My big take-away from the hot sauce class was that the peppers need to be soft enough to blend and they can be softened in any way. In the class we boiled fresh peppers, and I am obviously planning to ferment my next batch. But also we can roast, we can smoke, we can sauté.

The possibilities are endless and I look forward to making some weird combinations and forcing them on my husband’s plate.
After my little spicy peach party, I want to find a good combination of non-spicy things to combine and blend for a Kid Jupiter. He has zero spice tolerance, and that’s fine, I’m not trying to change that. I just want to make him a non-hot sauce that he likes.

Right now I’m thinking about roasting some tomatoes, tomatillos, and garlic. Blend them with a splash of vinegar and smoked salt… and sprinkle it on rice, or add a dash to his cheese grits? Anyway - I’m just brainstorming some quick thoughts, and I’ll refine those ideas later this year when we have room in the fridge for another jar of stuff.

And that’s it for today’s episode.
